Terms of Service
Last updated: 7 June 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and SettleUp. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy.
SettleUp is a record-keeping tool, not a payment service. It helps you and the people you choose keep track of shared expenses and who has to give what. SettleUp does not move, hold, or transfer money, and is not a bank, payment processor, or financial institution.
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using SettleUp, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use SettleUp. By using the app you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
3. Your account
You sign in with an email address or a Google account and link a phone number. You're responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for activity that happens under it. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. Your content
You own the content you create in SettleUp — your groups, expenses, notes, and attachments. You grant us the limited permission needed to store, process, sync, and display that content to operate the service for you and the people you share ledgers with. You're responsible for the content you add and for having the right to add it.
5. Shared ledgers & other people
SettleUp lets you share ledgers with others and add people to groups. When you do, the expenses and related details in that ledger become visible to those members. Only add people and information you're entitled to share, and respect the privacy of others. Each person is responsible for their own entries.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use SettleUp for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose;
- upload content that is illegal, infringing, or violates someone else's rights;
- attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service or other users' data;
- use the service to harass, abuse, or harm others.
7. Balances are records, not settlements
Balances shown in SettleUp are calculated from the entries you and other members record. They are informational only. SettleUp does not verify, guarantee, or settle any amount, and is not responsible for disputes between you and the people you share ledgers with. Always confirm amounts with the people involved.
8. Service availability
We work to keep SettleUp reliable, and the app is designed to keep working offline, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may add, change, or remove features, and may suspend or discontinue parts of the service, over time.
9. Termination
You can stop using SettleUp and delete your account at any time from Account → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or use the service in a way that could harm others or us.
10. Disclaimers
SettleUp is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of any calculated balances, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SettleUp will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of the service.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we'll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use SettleUp after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
